Industrial Areas in Navi Mumbai can be divided into two categories, viz. ;
1. Taloja Industries Area
2. Thane Belapur Industries Area
The Taloja Industries and the Thane Belapur Industrial Area have some of the most famous industries of India.
Taloja Industrial Area :
The Taloja Industrial Area consists of 277 Industrial Units all large, medium and small.
Location :
The Taloja Industrial Area is located in Taloja which is about 15km down the Panvel-Pune Road.
Types of Industries :
All types of process industries including chemical, pharmaceutical, paper, plastic etc. are located here. Also existing are the engineering companies in this region.
Known Industries :
Some of the well known industries in this area are the Balmer Lowrie & Co. Ltd., Reliance Paper Products, E Merck (I) Ltd., Hindustan Lever Ltd. and Pidilite Industries Ltd..
Thane - Belapur Industrial Area (TBIA) :
Around 391 Industries are located in the Thane Belapur Industrial Belt of Navi Mumbai. Of these 81 are DGTD (Director General Of Trade And Development) Units, 101 Medium Units and 204 Small Scale Units. All types of Process and Engineering Companies are located in this belt. Industries in the Thane - Belapur Industrial Belt have formed an association called the Thane-Belapur Industrial Association to serve the interest of the TBIA industries. Since its establishment on the 15th of August, 1978 the Association has been acting as a representative of the Thane - Belapur Industrial Area.
Activities :
The primary concern of the Thane - Belapur Association is the establishment and expansion of new Industrial Units - large, medium and small keeping in mind maintenance of clean environment. The Association is working in coordination with various Government Agencies to achieve this goal.
The Association undertakes ISO 9000/14000 International quality standard Certification and safety audits for industries.
The Association helps new and existing industrial units with matters related to CIDCO, MSEB, MIDC etc. It represents as a whole the Thane - Belapur Industries in interactions with the MPCB, Central Govt. on topics related to taxes, notice on departments, budget related matters etc.
Also the Association works to enhance mutual help from member - industries during technological crisis and accidents in and around the plants. It also provides emergency services like Fire rescue and Ambulance The association provides services in providing expertise on building of Common Effluent Treatment Plant and conducts courses in Industrial Safety.
And above all it keeps conducting seminars from time to time for its members on Personnel Development, Safety, Health and Environment, Finance, Taxation etc.
